What would cause my HVAC high pressure (skinny) line to be colder than my low pressure (insulated) line?

kiterfer asked:

Just looking for ideas to check for when a service technician comes out to look at my air conditioning. I know these guys are very busy this time of year and just want to be careful that I am not being taken for a ride as they tell me a whole lot of this that may not even be the problem so they could just charge more. Basically, my problem is if you feel the skinny high pressure line from my condenser unit outside it is colder than the insulated line and I don’t think that is the way it should be. My neighbors high pressure line is hot, why is mine not? The cooling inside is doing okay but it feels as if it should be cooler. Also any advise on what else I could check for myself before I call the service tech would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure about the issues written about Appliance Zone, I have bought four or five replacements from them and rarely had a problem.

I without fail determine the least costs carrying and on two occasions received my aspects the next day. They seem to be a reasonable operation.

I illustrious that all the chat operators seem to have American names so I elaborately doubt that they have their shopper remembrance sent oversees to India or Pakistan as so many more companies do.

I also see they have their own race car so I don’t see how this posse can be a scam as anybody prior mentioned.

I’ve heard many people talk badly about this appliance zone and I have had none of this at all.

WHAT IS BEST WAY TO CLEAN FINE DUST OUT OF HVAC TRUNK?

Posted in Uncategorized on March 22nd, 2010 by admin – 2 Comments
Gene D asked:

I had some cement cut in my basement and it left a fine layer of dust on everything. With some effort, I vacumed it off the accessible surfaces using the appropriate fine dust filter in my shop vac. However, the main trunk of my HVAC appears to have a rather thick layer of dust INSIDE it. I have two access grates where I can get the vac into, but even there, the angle is so bad that there is still a layer of cement dust when I run my finger on the surface after I vacuum. I was thinking of spraying it off the inside with water and hoping it drains, or else taking apart the trunk and manually cleaning with a lint cling towel. Unfortunately, I can’t get the joining pieces that connect the edges of the rectangular duct to slide off…

I don’t want to waste money on a service that is just going to send a vac down the hole to flail around and get spider webs… I would like some suggestions from people who have dealt with this type of very fine dust (like cement, or drywall dust) in their HVAC.

Thanks!

The other day I was sleeping and heard something in the duct work leading to the boiler, it was a critter (guessing a bird) trying to get out. Then all of a sudden, I heard it fall into the boiler. My question, do I need a professional to remove the now I am assuming dead bird? If not, by using the boiler, will we smell the birds body as it decomposes or will the smell go out the vent in the roof? Will the bird being in the boiler cause any danger? My hubby is on a medical and will be for at least another month and we really can’t afford another debt right now for a service call, so I’d sure appreciate some feedback and or suggestions.
