How do I get a decent job to support my daughter when I have three felonies. I’ve never been to prison.

I have 8 years of experience in Childcare, I have 2 years in HVAC, 2 1/2 years as a Collection Supervisor, 2 years as a Roofer, 2 years with a do it all Handyman Service. Please help I need it.. I’m going to be getting a $5000 to $ 9000 settlement pretty soon and I need something else to offer my daughter…. I feel I’m the best Dad ever, besides I’m broke and jobless…I have a car, license and insurance… and I don’t date… I just want to do the right thing… I’ve made mistakes before I became a Dad, I don’t want her to suffer from them. She’s a Ford Model and I’ve been taking her to all of her photo shoots…

Everyone in telemarketing are felons. Try home improvements like windows, patio covers etc. Most home owners are interested but you have to keep calling. MOST IMPORTANT. Follow the training. Do it their way.

Food service/kitchen environments. If you can cut it in the kitchen, the chefs and servers don’t care where or what you’ve done. It’s all about respect and pulling your weight. If you can do that, they will respect you and you’ll do fine. I love kitchens, they really don’t care about your past, just how good you do your job when you are there.

I would look into a jobs program in your area,, in Ohio it’s called J.O.B.S. they help people build resumes, look for work, etc.. I’m sure all states have a similar program! With your past history , you need to find a break and prove that your a hard worker, and a changed man! You would have a difficult time getting employed being a felon three times. If it is deep in your heart, knowing you made grave mistakes there is still hope to live a better life.
Seeing you are crafted in HVAC and a handyman, I suggest that you start your own business in one or both of these trades. You will need to register with the state and be insured. It will not cost much to do this, either. By doing this, you can avoid the embarassment of being turned down by an employer.
Not knowing why you are a felon makes it difficult to give you any other answer.

Then you could get a job at a higher wage. As for felonies, you would have to consult an attorney to see if you can have them reduced. Since I have no clue what the felonies were for, it is hard to advise you regarding what to do if that is not an option.

Since you have three felonies, your options are limited. Therefore, you cannot apply to job that require a background check. Don’t let that drag you down. Since you have experience in HVAC, there should be NO EXCUSE why you cannot get a job in this field at the moment. The market for HVAC is booming at the moment because it’s the beginning of summer and nearly all HVAC companies are hiring. Most HVAC comapanies don’t run background checks. So apply for a position as an HVAC installler. You’ll earn about $10-$12 and hour plus overtime (you’ll be working more than 40 hrs a week in this weather). That will bring in alot of cash. If you apply for a roofer postion. Good luck…(personally)it’s too hot to withstand the roof heat. As you stated earlier, you want to support your daughter, so you will have to accept the downfall of being a roofer in the summer. Remember, your motivation and dedication to your goals (support your daughter) and you will pull through. I don’t think roofing jobs perform background checks either.
Since you have your own vehicle, you can place an ad in your local newspapers. State in your ad that you are a handyman and give a brief description of the handywork you do. This money will be under the table and you don’t have to worry about taxes eating up your check.
There’s also Labor Ready. You can fill out an application with them to work at a variety of places. Your supervisor experience can come in handy when applying at Labor Ready.
Finally, you can work with a friend or someone who owns their own business and they can pay you under the table. Small businesses are always looking for ways to cut costs. Only go this route if your friend or you know someone who owns their own business. Please don’t walk into any pizza parlor and ask to be paid under the table. That could cause a few problems.
