Does anyone use American Home Shield Warranty Service?

TIMOTHY H asked:

We just bought a house that came with a 1 year contract with American Home Shield. Is anyone familiar with this company?
We went through them last week for service on our furnace. An electrical sequencer on one of the heating elements went out. The HVAC tech. that came out said it was covered by the home warranty, American Home Shield would not authorize the work to be done, they claim it went out because of improper installation of the duct work. The only issue the tech had with the ductwork was that some of it was laying in front of the furnace. ( furnace and duct are in attic, all the duct work is flex duct and can be moved easily). When I told the rep. from AHS that the duct is not the cause of the failure of the electrical part he got pretty rude and upset, I fnally hung up. I installed HVAC systems for more than 10 years, and know for a fact that AHS is just trying to get out of paying for repair.
I was wondering if anyone has dealt with this co. before. Thanks.

I had a new HVAC Unit installed less then 2 years ago. Since being installed I have had to have the company out at least 4 times for problems. Anywhere from leaking water (2 Times), not a little water enough to travel under tiles in a downstairs bathroom. A bad circuit board (2 Time) it was replaced and then last month A/C would not operated company came out and said it was a defective circuit board once again. It was covered under warranty but ther service call was not. I want to know what steps I can take since I paid over $4000 for a new system and have had these problems with it being only 2 years old.

Is this going to make my electric bill higher?(I pay for it in my utilities)

I live in an apartment with one HVAC heating and cooling unit. I was out of town the one day that they do the maitenance for the year. I’m pretty sure this unit hasn’t been serviced for 3 years.

And what do they do exactly?
I know my landlord won’t do this again until atleast next year and I don’t have any money to pay someone. :(
