Anyone have bad customer service with Sears Large Appliance Repair? Anyone know the Lemon Law inside/out?

FrustratedwithSears asked:

We purchased a HVAC system from Sears in 2001 and have had it serviced 2x a year since, for the same problem. We are told the SEARS lemon law does not apply b/c it has not broken down 4 times in the same year. Not aware of many who run AC all year?? A call to customer services provides us with no customer service (CS). We are not allowed to talk to CS supervisors nor provided names. We have tried to get a name/number for a supervisor in the repair center, told only no one knows the names for anyone in the repair center nor do they know the number b/c its an in house transfer. We have tried to get a phone number to the corporate office to find out that they do not and will not provide us with a number to corporate but will give us an address. We have asked for anyone w/in Sears that can help us with this unit, sold to us as having a life of 15 years or more, tho we have not gotten one year problem free. I need help/direction as we cannot afford to pay another $5,000. Ideas/Suggestions?

After seeing the complaints I found on other websites, I had feelings around ordering from ApplianceZone.com. Fortunately, practicality kicked in and I convinced myself that for any spoken pissed-off customer, you don’t see the multitude of satisfied ones. I am here to say that my transaction with ApplianceZone proved that I was correct - I got satisfactory service, original equipment parts at half the cost of Sears and very fast delivery.

A few things to keep in mind before finalizing your order. 1) Be sure that you found the correct part numbers. Check several similar sites that have the parts you need and be sure they all have the same part numbers for your model appliance. 2) Before paying for expressed shipping, confirm with ApplianceZone to certify that they have all the parts for your appliance in stock.

How will my electricty improve now that I’ve upgraded my home to 200 amps from 100 amps?

alcoh71 asked:

I’ve had problems with lights blowing out after only a day or a few weeks at the most. I also have a room where the lights go out a few seconds after they are switched on. Will my service upgrade fix some of this, all of this?

Will I be able to run more high-powered devices/appliances at once? What are the obvious and identifiable benefits of this upgrade?

Also, will I only receive the benefits when my utility comes to connect the line on my street to my upgraded service? My contractor made it sound like the line I have from my street right now might already have 200amps. If so, is there any way a lay person can test or confirm this? I know the work was done, I was just hoping to be able to notice the difference.
The problem with light bulbs going out after a short period of time seems to have stopped since the contractor has done the job. I’m still waiting for my town to inspect the work and for the utility to do whatever it needs to do to finalize the job. I probably should have clarified this upfront. My earlier questions relate in part to what the utility does at this point. I’m writing this after receiving four answers.

Broken switch on a Rival Crockpot?

unitedwestand7s asked:

My mother just gave me her old Rival crockpot and I accidentally broke the switch off. Has anyone here ever had any luck finding a replacement switch for a small appliance like this? I have done an internet search without any results. Places like repairclinic.com don’t service these appliances, and any site that handles crockpot parts just has replacement knobs and lids. I need the 3 position rotary switch…help!

Am I about to make my electric bill more? (I pay my own utilities.)

I live in an apartment house with one HVAC heating and cooling unit. I was away that specific day they did the maintenance for the year. I’m almost certain it hasn’t been serviced for several years.

And what do the maintenance people do?

I know my property-owner doesn’t do this once more pending at least next year and I now don’t have any money to pay someone.

My contractor does Gas Furnace Repair.

Does any one know how to determine L1, L2 and L3 in a three phase breaker box?

LG asked:

I have a high leg delta service, 240V l-l. If I look inside the box I can measure the high leg voltage so I know that’s L2. But what about L1 and L3? I know many appliances don’t care but I’m wiring a receptacle and I’m thinking I should get it right. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Home Heater (HVAC) makes loud squealing noise when starting?

Posted in Uncategorized on January 27th, 2010 by admin – 3 Comments
Ryan D asked:

I live in a home in Phoenix where the HVAC Unit has two parts - the air handler inside and a blower unit outside. Sometimes, but not every time, when the heater kicks on there is a loud squealing noise while the unit starts up for heat. The noise originates in the unit outside, and it isn’t the fan. The noise is only in the winter when heating, it doesn’t seem to happen in the summer. Do I need to have my heater serviced or maybe I something I can fix?
